London leads — around a third of all deliveries go to Greater London, powered by the Indian diaspora belt across east, south-east and north London, and a striking corporate cluster around Canary Wharf. But the real story is the tail: our meals reach more than 800 different towns and cities across England, Scotland and Wales. Ghar ka khana — real home cooking — travels the length of the country.

Britain's top 10 cities for home-cooked Indian food

1. London — the national leader; around a third of all deliveries go to Greater London, powered by the diaspora belt and a corporate cluster around Canary Wharf.
2. Manchester — the northern diaspora capital, and a huge student city.
3. Birmingham — one of the UK's largest South-Asian communities.
4. Cambridge — the surprise of the study. A small city punching far above its population, driven by international students and professionals.
5. Brighton — our home city, and where our 5-star-hygiene-rated kitchen cooks every meal.
6. Edinburgh — Scotland's number one for home-cooked Indian food.
7. Leeds — Yorkshire's diaspora and student hub.
8. Nottingham — a long-standing student and diaspora city.
9. Coventry — heavy Indian student intake around its universities.
10. Durham — the second surprise. The smallest city in the national top 10 — almost entirely university-driven, with an outsized appetite.

Liverpool follows just outside the top ten at 11th — Merseyside's diaspora and student community.

Three things the data told us

• Small university cities over-index. Cambridge (4th) and Durham (10th) rank far above their size — homesick students and international scholars want food that tastes like home.
• It's a corporate habit too. Canary Wharf is our single busiest London postcode — weeknight home-cooked dinners for people who work late.
• The map is genuinely national. From Swansea to Aberdeen, Exeter to Newcastle, home-cooked Indian food is ordered in every corner of the UK, not just the big metros.

How we cook and deliver

Every dish is home-cooked in small batches in our 5-star-hygiene-rated Brighton kitchen — real ghar ka khana — then delivered frozen across mainland UK. Keep it frozen, then cook or reheat straight from frozen following the pack instructions until piping hot. The UK Tiffin Index is based on almost 16,000 home-cooked Indian meal deliveries by Saakshi's Kitchen, ranked by delivery address across more than 800 UK towns and cities. Figures are relative order shares and city rankings, aggregated and fully anonymised — no personal data is used or shown.
